This filter is based on the techniques of my "Painterly Effects" filter, adapted to produce pencil sketches. The biggest difference, other than the stroke texture, is that this filter allows you to blend the pencil directions, giving cross-hatching effects as well as simpler sketches. You also have the option of creating a monochrome sketch, with whatever pencil colour you want. NOTE: If you have "Monochrome" selected, the "Hue" and "Saturation" sliders will have no effect on the image. In this version, I have added a slider called "Stroke Looseness." This control adds a little noise distortion to the strokes, giving them (perhaps) a more natural look. I have found that longer strokes tend to look more realistic with low "Stroke Looseness" values, whereas shorter strokes can go all the way up to 100 and still look good. Again, thanks to nutsy for "Egg Tempura and Oil Paint" for the idea for the crosshatching. ^_^ Have fun!
